Missing Partner Mechanism in SO(10) Grand Unification

چکیده

We present a new possibility for achieving doublet–triplet splitting naturally in supersymmetric SO(10) grand unified theories. It is based on a missing partner mechanism which is realized with the 126 + 126 Higgs superfields. These Higgs fields, which are also needed for generating Majorana right–handed neutrino masses, contain a pair of color triplets in excess of weak doublets. This feature enables us to remove the color triplets from the low energy spectrum without fine–tuning. We give all the needed ingredients for a successful implementation of the missing partner mechanism in SO(10) and present explicit models wherein the Higgs doublet mass is protected against possible non–renormalizable corrections to all orders. We also show how realistic fermion masses can be generated in this context.

Orbifolded SU(7) and unification of families

A 5D SU(7) family unification model with two spinor representations of SO(14) is presented. The fifth dimension is compactified on S/Z2 × Z ′ 2. The orbifolding is used to obtain 4D SO(10) chiral fermions. The 4D grand unification group is the flipped SU(5) × U(1). The doublet-triplet splitting through the missing partner mechanism is achieved. Also, fermion mass matrices are considered. [

Dynamical models for light Higgs doublets in supersymmetric grand unified theories.

We consider a supersymmetric hypercolor gauge theory with six flavors of quarks interacting strongly at the grand unification scale. Dynamical breaking of the grand unified SU(5)GUT produces a massless pair of composite color-triplet states. A use of the missing partner mechanism yields eventually a pair of massless Higgs doublets, giving large masses to the color-triplet partners. We prove tha...

Suppression of Proton Decay in the Missing-Partner Model for Supersymmetric SU(5) GUT

The Peccei-Quinn symmetric extension of the missing-partner model in the supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified model is consistent with the observed stability of the proton, even in the large tan β region (' 50 − 60) expected from the Yukawa unification. Moreover, the SU(5) gauge coupling constant remains small enough for the perturbative description of GUT’s below the gravitational scale. Talk gi...

Non-unified gaugino masses in supersymmetric missing partner models with hypercolor

The gaugino mass relations m3/g 2 3 = m2/g 2 2 = m1/g 2 1 are considered to be robust signals for supersymmetric grand unification. In this letter, we point out that these relations may be significantly modified in an interesting class of models which solve the doublet-triplet splitting problem using a missing partner mechanism together with a strong hypercolor gauge group. The observation of n...

Seesaw induced Higgs Mechanism

We discuss a two scalar doublets model which induces the Higgs mechanism by means of a seesaw mechanism. This model naturally predicts a light Higgs scalar whose mass is suppressed by the grand unification scale. The model predicts an intermediate scale between the electroweak symmetry breaking scale and the grand unification scale at 10 GeV. Below this intermediate energy scale the usual stand...
